Groovy Gravel Bar
When we first built the Lazy Heart Ranch there was talk of knocking down the less-than-impressive “Gravel Bar” as it had been called — an existing outbuilding on the property that was originally designed as a casual hang out, but had fallen into disrepair and just wasn’t that appealing anymore.
Well, a few years after Lazy Heart’s completion, Dovetail was asked to come back and construct a space that would be ideal for entertaining, and that’s how the “The GROOVY Gravel Bar” was born.
This “grown-ups playhouse” features huge window-walls which open up to afford astounding mountain views and direct access to the outdoor patio and built-in pizza oven. Trading stories at the custom bar, beneath an authentic Islamorada (Florida) neon sign and a full-size mount of the owner’s world record tarpon, is a popular summer activity — and there are even comfortable guest quarters just off the public spaces to offer a place to stay for late-night revelers.
All of the fine finishes found inside and out echo those found over in the Lazy Heart main house, making the Groovy Gravel Bar feel like it’s been a part of the Lazy Heart Ranch compound since day one.
